A philanthropist affiliated with various nonprofit organizations, Art Samberg involves himself with, contributes to, and establishes foundations for the benefit of the community. He belongs to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Corporation as a Life Member, sits on the Board of Trustees at New York-Presbyterian Hospital, and serves on the Board of Directors for both Historic Hudson Valley and the Jazz at Lincoln Center. Art Samberg's past affiliations include belonging to the Campaign Steering Committee for the New York-Presbyterian Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital, a place on the Board of Overseers for the Center for Jewish History, and a position as Partner with Birthright Israel.

Complimenting his wide support of established institutions, Art Samberg endowed the Columbia Business School's Arthur J Samberg Institute for Teaching Excellence, an organization dedicated to proliferating educational resources for students and faculty. In 2006, Arthur Samberg, an alumnus of the Columbia Business School, having graduated from the university with a Master of Business Administration, supported his namesake institution with a grant of twenty-five million dollars, an amount that sufficiently funded thirteen professorships. The Columbia Business School honored Art Samberg for his generosity in 2010.

Beyond his philanthropic work, the New York hedge Fund Roundtable recognized Art J Samberg as among the industry titans of hedge fund management. From 1999 through 2009, he oversaw Westport, Connecticut's Pequot Capital Management as Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, helping to grow the hedge fund into one of the most valuable financial institutions of its day.

His success in business mirrors his success in education. Along with earning his MBA from Columbia Business School, Art Samberg previously graduated from two of the nation's most respected academic institutions; MIT in Cambridge, Massachusetts and Stanford University in Stanford, California. He earned his Bachelor of Science from the former and his Master of Science from the latter, with both degrees in Aeronautics and Astronautics.
